Am I studying correctly?

I'm finally taking chess more seriously and am studying from a book, which will eventually lead to more books/computer study etc.....I pretty much have it all laid out and am also playing regularly(badly,btw)....Here's my question.........

I find that I spend a lot of time on each pattern shown in the books,in order to make sure I absorb them......This is OK,I'm sure but I'm moving very slowly and need to take breaks between study

.Basically,I'm not going through too many patterns a day......Can I assume this is how most folks study,or do you better players zip through the stuff more rapidly?

Much thanks in advance

i go slowly through the book . because i am a beginner .

i think when you reach expert level then you will be able to go through books rapidly because familiar stuff will crop up often as is the case in any field .
