Am I too late for a high title?

I'm 14 years old and I'm not sure if I'm too late for top titles, because the other top dogs have been beating grand masters at 3-5 years old and I'm not even close to that level. (I don't have a chess teacher either so I think that'll affect my growth speed at chess)

GM Ben Finegold got his GM norm at age 40.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ben_Finegold

" international master (FIDE) at 20, and grandmaster (FIDE) at 40."

so yeah - you're too late. sorry...

Jiangchuan Ye didn’t learn chess until he was 17 and became champion of China at 20. That’s the oldest anyone who has learned chess to go on to be a grandmaster. However, the vast majority of chess grandmasters learned chess at less than half that age.

Is it possible? Yes. Is it likely? Not very.

Can you show me a game where top dog(???) at age 3-5 beats any grandmaster, please? Btw you don't need a chess teacher to improve at chess thats why not having one won't affect your growth speed at chess. You are still very young and I wish I started playing chess at age of 14. As a 20yo I managed to gain over 800 rating points in less than a year. Imagine what you, six years younger person, can do in that time! So don't look for excuses and play chess.

Yes if you think GMs will lose to 3 year olds then I think you can't become one

Yes, it does. Brain plasticity drops off rapidly after puberty.

Look at me... I'm 65. If I had studied chess when I was young, I might have been a good player.

That's not supported by science.
Neuroplasticity is still an emerging field of study, and all indications are that it can be shaped later in life as well.

It's never too late to improve and becoming a GM is more about work ethic and natural talent than anything else.

You won't know unless you try. I wouldn't put all my chips into a game over a proper profession, though. Regardless of age.
