Difficulty is purely subjective, so that depends solely on how your ability/preparation compares to that of your opponent.

IMO, the endgame is the most difficult. Majority of super GMs and Kasparov himself are having difficulties in almost equal material and position. None can even play perfectly the 6 men endgames.
