yes my friends asian and i told him about that name and hes like wow hes insulting our heritage.

Maybe the person in question works around slot machines.  Doesn't always have to be intended as an insult...

Either way, changing your name is pretty easy.  If the staff tells him to change it, then he should.

Referring to a person as "Asian" is pretty insensitive as well. There is more than one culture on the largest continent on the planet.

Please tell me, a good reason why the name is insulting. Nowhere in the name does it suggest that people from Asia are inferior in any way. In fact, how do you know the name has anything to do with Asia? And don't you think that it is more insulting of you to assume that it is racist? Why is everyone so worried about racism all of a sudden and everyone is worried that they aren't being politically correct all the time? I think that political correctness has run too far. What happened to freedom of speech anyway?

You know, maybe you're right; and as a protest against this insane politica correctness, I think yo should walk into your nearest Chinese restaurant, puff out your chest with pride, and shout your order of 'flied lice pwease!'

Your location suggests that Oregon is boring and therefore offends my Oregonian friend deeply.

Your not asian.. period.

Its like saying the N word isnt offensive cause your white.. like be quiet.

I take this matter seriously and you guys are being immature about it.

Look, if you can't articulate why that member name is offensive then maybe you should just drop it. I mean, you want people to understand your sensitivity but "it's offensive because you said so" doesn't cut it for me. Please explain.

Oh and as regards usage of the N word...if black people use it as a term of endearment amongst themselves it's ok but not ok for white people to use, is that what you're saying? I'm confused.

Well you obviously dont go out alot.. If you dont know why its offensive.. WHY ARE YOU HERE?

and Asians dont say the word themselves as they find it offensive.. but African(-Amercian) tend to say the N word themselves.. you see the difference? i would say the asian word is more offensive because Asians dont say it.

Avatar of -waller-

Seriously then, I don't think it's racist.

For one thing, looking at the guys "real" name in his profile suggest he himself is of Asian origin, or at least with some Asian connections.

For a second thing, you can't know for certain it wasn't intended as meaning something else that perhaps means something to them.

For a third thing, no-one apart from you and your friend have complained about it.

For a fourth thing, generally political correctness goes way too far.

For a fifth thing, if you're not being serious, Serbian, then why call out other people for not being serious?

No, you decided that your interpretation of this member's name is insulting and a serious matter. What is more amazing that no longer the group that is purportedly insulted is complaining but someone from another group instead. Sure we can fix the "problem" so there would not be any chance any longer for potential insult. We ask Chess.com to assign each member a random name. I will be qthdyw1 and you can be thfvkpos9. We remove the chat/commenting feature so it is absolutely impossible for anybody to insult someone. We just play chess and all the problems will be fixed.
