andriod app update pushed out yesterday

I for one love change, however I'm still a fan of the previous interface. So simple. 

A few complaints from me - Let us choose the theme of the ap and the theme of the borad and pieces or have a custom theme option instead of premade themes. Also i want to view my Online Chess games in a list, i don't really care about the preview of the board.

you can choose custom theme! see the "Custom" green bar at the top?

You can use Show Mini boards [OFF] in Settings -> General

Then you will have a simple list view:

apps changed on my Android. how do I get original board and pieces back? New default theme not so clear.

terrible app... looks like high school 80's computer project and crashes all the time.I had people complaining that i disconnected on purpose but i was watching a blury white screen.Chat does not work at all.updated yesterday and wish i did not and kept old version.Really really sucks when you know that so many geeks playing chess.lol.The worse is tu use it on a touch screen because some moves a not the one you wanted to play and can loose with mate in 3 just because the app . Really really poor job i agree.

Again...I dont get the complaints.  Im using the app now, and its working fine.

Go to menu, scroll down, select Settings, select Theme, select Dark.

hell no, this is def not the old board and pieces. this is a bunch of crap!

Why fix something that isn't broken?  The update makes the app slower and more clunky.  This is CHESS!  We don't need frills and fancy.  

Could you give please a screenshot of your old board/pieces config?

The forums feature doesn't visually distinguish between quotes and non-quotes, like how the regular site greys out the background of quotes...

TT is pretty broken (e.g. I'm black and I can't move a black piece). It wasn't broken at the Christmas Eve update but it doesn't work now. Erik, I tried clicking on your name to message you but I can't in the app.

ok I am as well experiencing oproblems in this new update , so sad i clicked install before i read the forums .

1 doesnt show conversations as a list

2 wont shut down after move made like old version in online games . now have to manually shut it down .

3 crashes

4 multiple annoying alerts for messages and (its your move)  that wont show up .

5 draws too much ram and power than the old one for a pile of stuff i never use .

6 hate the themes as most of them use colors that makes the writing  unreadable

7 DIDNT ASK FOR IT

I HATE when people complain about these things, but I, too, do not like the upgrade. I am also very upset that I had no choice in the matter in that it was pushed to me. the prior app was BETTER

For what it's worth, I think the chess playing screen is a bit annoying.

There are lot's of distractions around the outside of the board such as the players name and rating in a large font (on the top and bottom of the board), the type of membership the players have (who cares) and the unusual way the chess notation is displayed. I also don't like that the board is in the middle of the screen horizontally.

I understand these things are very subjective but I would suggest looking at the Playchess.com app for an example of nice board/game presentation; although to be fair, even they don't make use of the full width of the screen for the board!
