annoying bishop sacrifices on F7

Does any anyone know how to stop your opponent sacrificing his bishop from C4 to F7 in the E4 -E5 openings . I find it very frustrating to play against when my oppent sacrifices his bishop on F7.

It's not really a sacrifice if you don't take the bishop, it's just a free pawn for your opponent.

First of all, Bd6 is very bad. On the one hand because you're blocking your d-pawn and thus your Bishop on c8, on the other hand you just lose 2 moves with Bd6/Bc5, because your opponent can attack it with its pawns. You learn in primary school that you normally should move every piece only once during the opening.

And then you should just take the bishop on f7, because there is no sufficient attack, which is most times the case.

In general, the solution is to develop pieces as quickly as possible so you have some defenders around to help out the king if you have to take the bishop. In the game you posted, your own bishop and knight are scr*wing-around on the queenside. If your king can't castle, lock down the center, rally defenders by developing pieces, and since you are ahead material, make every effort to trade pieces. Also, when you develop pieces, don't develop them to squares where they are going to be pushed around by advancing pawns (like your bishop in this game).

You want to play the King's Gambit Accepted? You could always beat him to the punch in that opening with 2. ... Bc5. Laughing

exf4 is not good but instead play ….d5

I play that line a lot. But I tend to lose it frequently, the best defense from it is to castle, or opening up the queen pawn, and trade bishops,

There has been many times a opponent tried this on me, and I immediately do the same thing to them and often beat them because of it, they never expect black to respond with the same move, and often are left open from the attack.

If you took the bishop, and didnt put your knight blocking the queen, you could have in the right situation, done the same attack but allow your queen to make a 2nd check,

the computer says +5 for the person who gets a bishop for his pawn. That sacrifice is so stupid but everyone does it

yea ik, im 16-1700 but maybe 1/10 out of ppl play dumb stuff, like smth that gives me +4-5 in an opening

Why would you want to stop that sacrifice anyway? It's simply a bad move.

I play a guy who takes the f7 pawn on his 3rd move. Taking the Bishop with my King turns out to be bad every time. I've tried a few things in anticipation of that... like moving my queen to e7 on my 3rd move or moving my knight to h6.... but it only delays my loss.
