Another Extension of Time for Our Egyptian Friends, Please?

Sort:
gramos9956

I noticed previously that an additonal 48 hours was provided our Egyptian friends due to the crisis going on in their country.

However, it appears that time has now run out, and I have noticed at least one of my Egyptian friends who has not logged in since January 27th is now starting to lose games due to timeouts.

In fairness to our Egyptian friends who may not have Internet access through no fault of their own, I would like to ask that they be given another extension of time.

I hope and pray that all of our Egyptian friends and their families stay safe and can join us here again sometime soon.

@ the OP - Couldn't agree more. I thought the staff was going to keep an eye on the situation and react accordingly. It's not like this subject hasn't already been covered and brought to the site's attention. Kohai responded very quickly when the crisis began ....

@ chess boy - I think the OP is suggesting that even more time be added (?)

edit: I guess Kohai is doing all she can - From Kohai's blog:

After we added the first 48 hours, we have now added another 48 hours.

We cannot keep doing this Frown

What i will do though, is if anyone in Egypt  loses games on time from this issue (after that time expires) , i will restore the games. I cannot promise to restore team match games or tournaments if the match has already ended or the tournament round has ended.

Thank you for bringing that to my attention, Chess Boy.  I just happened to notice today that one of my Egyptian chess friends has started timing out in his games today, two days after the initial 48 hour extension.  Since there was an additional 48 hours was provided 14 hours ago now, according to that blog, I wonder why my friend started timing out today.  Puzzling.

Even so, as Benkobaby indicates, I would request giving them even more time, if at all possible.

Yes all the time they need, Sympathy and passion, and they shouldn't be penalized in time of turmoil and chaos. I'm not Egyptian but the countries poor seem to be in unison and they are expressing problems with the country which is more important than playing a fun game. Just hope theirs slack in the rope for chess.com players and others who fall victim to a revolution or movement. Thanx! chou...
