According to this report from May 24, the event has been postponed - probably until next year.
"Event organizers said it was due to scheduling conflicts and that a new date would be set in 2024.
The event was announced back in April and was supposed to kick off at Resorts World in July."
There was an interesting chess tournament taking place this weekend. I was browsing through the latest issue of chess life.....relaxing before round 2 of T88 and came across an ad for some event in Las Vegas called chesstival. I looked it up. https://www.chesstival.com/#info It is actually an open with big money at stake......by amateur chess standards anyway. First place is 50k. However.....the entry fee is $7500. Also the time control is 10+2. It seems kind of crazy to invest $7500 in a 10+2 event but this seems to be marketed for celebrities and people who already have a lot of money. Would be kind of cool to hear a first hand report of someone who played in it. Anyone out there? Or perhaps this is in the category....what happens in Vegas stays in vegas?
