There's nothing wrong with the French Defense Opening. I really can't comprehend which people are making a huge issue out of a useful chess opening. Seriously I don't get it. 🤨🤨🤨🤨🤨🤨🤨🤨
French Defense

I like the French. As some posters have pointed out, there's a loof variety in the based on style, mood, and trends in almost every setup.

GM's play all of the "big 4" defenses against 1.e4. That includes both the caro kann and the french. They do even play more openings than these. Some for a surprise weapon, and in some cases, even for their main weapons.
Rare openings sometimes seen at GM level: Pirc, Scandinavian, Alekhine, Nimzo(1...Nc6) and the modern defense. There are probably more than this, but what you should take away from this is that the first move rarely decides how the game will go. It is how you play the openings that do.
It is much more interesting to discuss the following questions for example:
Which variation of the Scandinavian defence is the best? 3...Qa5, 3...Qd6, 3...Qd8 or even 2.Nf6.
What is the best variation (if any) to regularly get an advantage against the Alekhine?
What are some low theory options to avoid theory heavy sicilian lines for white?
We should not consider an opening trash or gold from the move one, every opening needs a bit of digging before we can come to judgement.

Nf6 Scandi is fire
Yes, of course it is good- and it's also very versatile: Each one of the major White replies (3.Nc3, 3.Nd2, 3.e5) can be met in a variety of ways ranging from extremely sharp to positional and sometimes very quiet. Even 3.exd5 can be met in various ways.
Why do you care why GM's play/reject the ABC opening when you are 2000+ rating points away from becoming a GM?
