I use Hiarcs 12 MP (Multiprocessor) on a dual core Intel IMac which gives it an Elo rating of about 2930 which matches all the best software except Rybka.  The Sigma interface is not as good as the Fritz interface but it is still easy to use and has all the usual features.

Never heard of this vektor3 before, thanks Gonnosuke I'm going to check it out.

Oh, and I have both of the other suggested programs (Hiarcs 12 Lite with Sigma interface, and Shredder Classic 3, both of which are free), and I find them great to use. Biggest difference between the two is that the Hiarcs Lite caps the search depth at 13.

Hi all,

Do any of the mac programs have a database of games like the one of Chessbase for windows?  I really like being able to have the game database on my harddrive and assessing each position against the database.  Is there a mac equivalent.

Thanks for your time!

Jack
