I used to like 1. e4, but I am afraid of the Sicilian Defense. Any tips?
The Alapin Sicilian the is best counter in my opinion.
1. e4 c5 2. c3? What are the main plans?
Learn the King's Indian attack vs Sicilian. It is system opening so you just need to know where the pieces go and typical plans. No mountains of theory, solid yet aggressive and can be played against other defences.... Why... you can even play it as black!!
Play a simplified anti-Sicilian line.
