Maybe play and explain along the way or get her a fun app to learn from. Do not listen to Samurai-X because it would not be interesting if it was boring

If she is not interested in thinking too much, I would not bother. If she is really into it, it will come naturally. Try teaching the basics and then playing her with material disadvantage. Whoever wins has a wish fulfilled by the opponent.
