Hi group,

I had a 10 min game just now. Opponent was running out of time, showed 0.00  at end. As his time ran out my game got a "Game drawn by timeout vs insufficient material". I know I didn't have the material left to mate him, but how is that a draw if he runs out of time ??

Post the game position.

'6.9 Except where one of Articles 5.1.1, 5.1.2, 5.2.1, 5.2.2, 5.2.3 applies, if a player does not complete the prescribed number of moves in the allotted time, the game is lost by that player. However, the game is drawn if the position is such that the opponent cannot checkmate the player’s king by any possible series of legal moves.'

In your case KN vs. KPP the position was such that you could checkmate your opponent's king by a possible series of legal moves, but chess.com mistakenly considers your lone knight as insufficient material.

Yeah. According to FIDE it's a win for black but here on chess.com it's a draw.
