Anyone else feel cheated by those who are quick to resign?

Don't get me wrong. I enjoy the elo points.

I won't go as far as to call my opponent a bad sport, I'm sure they had their reasons.

But when you sit down to battle your wills in terms of tactics, strategy, material, position and clock, this is a massive anti climax.

Don't get me wrong, it could be that he had somewhere to go or a legitimate reason to end the game. But if its for playing reasons, he's placed far too much faith in my ability to convert a 3 point advantage.

I've lost so many games when up in material I think it's crazy for someone to resign so early.

Typical chess.com. There are simultaneously topics with people whining about those who resign too early as well as too late.

@llama what is your view on the matter?

I really do not understand you. Chess is about winning the game. You ought to be happy. Also, your opponent's position was completely lost (down a piece and you trade his bishop next move). So play a new game and stop complaining.

Good opening choice in that game thumbup.png

When the opponent resigns early it gives you both time to play additional games. If the opponent slugs it out even in a losst position then you may not have the time to play more games. On the other hand it is best if you truly want to win to continue to play no matter what because your opponent may make a mistake or you may be able to swindle your opponent in some way.

People complain about everything... There should be a specific arena where these types of people should be pitted against each other and they will argue till their last breath. Why do people resign so easily vs why don’t some people just don't resign.

@elibus2020 as I said, I enjoy the points I got

Avatar of TheCalculatorKid

@elibus2020 but that is not a lost position, the game has only just started

@Steven-ODonoghue thank you.

So basically you want your opponent to play their role as a sandbag after blundering a knight against a higher rated opponent, so that you can enjoy your dominance to the fullest?

WRONG!

Down a whole piece for ZERO compensation.

It is DEAD LOST for Black!  Why White would be whining about Black's resignation is just absolutely laughable!

Avatar of TheCalculatorKid

@Jenium, no I want to see if I can actually convert a lead from such an early position.

Avatar of TheCalculatorKid

@ThrillerFan there is so much counter play remaining that it's impossible to consider that game lost.

what the hell, just take the win

My opponent can resign or not resign whenever they wish.  I really don't get aerated about it either way.  I usually resign when I'm a piece down because I have better things to do with my life than play a game a piece down.  Like start another game!  But I don't care if my opponent plays on a piece down.

@theCalculatorKid it's psychology... Perhaps they had a bad day and are tilting, or maybe they just play bullet for fun and not to win.
