Hi, I am a 400 on rapid. I don't have premium. Do any of you know how to analyze games better and how to actually use the analyze tool. Plus give me some improvement tips.

Just quit. You’ll get better. Then you’ll get worse. The game is soul crushing. Get out now while you can

the real basics

Try to castle in the first 10 moves

try not to move the same piece, in the first 10 moves

just because you see you can win in 2 moves- do not forget that your opponent might be able to win with his next move- if you don't prevent him/her.

good luck and welcome to the often frustrating game of chess.

Learn opening, try not to blunder, and only mistake in one game, and just play more.

Hi there! It's awesome that you're looking to improve!
Here's what worked for me when I was still a non-premium member:

  • Puzzles and Lessons: Chess.com gives you some free puzzles and lessons to work through. I made sure to use those up when able – they helped me a lot with tactics and basic strategy.
  • Read, Read, Read! Chess.com has tons of free articles on openings, strategy, and even chess history. I found these super helpful for understanding the bigger picture of the game.
  • Openings Exploration: I started experimenting with different openings to see what felt comfortable for me. The articles helped me understand the basic ideas behind some of them.
  • Slow Down the Pace: I switched from blitz to rapid games. Having more time to think made a HUGE difference in my decision-making.
  • Chess Club is Key! This was a game-changer for me. Joining my local chess club let me play against a variety of people, get advice from stronger players, and just immerse myself in the chess world.
  • Library Love: Don't underestimate the power of books! My local library had a surprisingly good selection of chess books, and I learned a lot from them.
  • Bot Buddies: Playing against the available bots is a great way to experiment without the pressure of playing against real people. It lets me try new openings, practice tactics, and just play freely.

These are the things that helped me get started, and they can all be done without a premium membership. Best of luck on your chess journey!

Getting from 400 to 1400 without premium is pretty easy, although chess.com offers premium for full access, you could use the free 7-day trial and get that full access. If you're under 18 and you don't have a credit card or a debit card you should look for checks, captures, and sacrifices, even the craziest one. Always double-check your moves; a normal move could always be a blunder.

I don't agree, while I was a 100 I thinking of quitting but then I learned chess and then I get to 1400, so I don't think he should quit
