Judging by the Backyard Professor's videos, it seems like he has improved greatly from being an intermediate, probably 1500 level player to at least 1900 over the past couple years. He's certainly making improvements in his chess and I'm sure in another year he'll be a master.

It seems to me that you were stoned while watching his video.

The guy is the perfect chess clown, and nothing more than that.

I don't think he has crossed 1400 as of yet.

Not to take anything away from the BYP. What he lacks in strength, he makes up in enthusiasm. I love watching his vids.

I started watching his videos this summer around end of july. I have improved 250 points since starting to watch his videos, and that's only the beginning. His refutation of the fried liver attack was nothing short of brilliant, and is actually the engine recommendation! most GM's would underestimate this guy, and then he would make them all cry. A brilliant mind like Kerry Shirts only comes around once in a while, so I think people would do justice to his good name to stop badmouthing him and thank him for being such a passionate teacher on the subject that he loves and excels at so much: chess...and religion.
