So, we're playing a crippled version of Stockfish or Houdini with a customized opening book?

No idea. It seems kinda spooky. Especially with that really lousy drawing of Carlsen.

I believe the app essentially lets you ''Play magnus at different ages'', that is you choose how old he is and the computer program adjusts the opening book and playing strength to match Carlsen at that point in time.

So no,  Carlsen is not sitting around playing random patzers on some app, in case you were wondering 

I was not thinking that at all.

I just assumed he had magical or alien powers that allowed him to use telepathy to play chess while doing something else.

I'm not random...I'm a premium member and with my membership, I get to play Carlsen on my phone.
