What do you mean overrated? It's common knowledge that flank pawns are (usually) more valuable passers than center pawns in the endgame.
That's one of the interesting things about chess, as the game transitions the values of certain elements change, to the point that sometimes they're inverted.
I've never really thought about it before, but aren't central pawns kind of overrated? Don't get me wrong, I'd rather have a center pawn than a flank pawn in the MIDDLEGAME, but by how much is a central pawn better in an endgame, or is it even better? For example, would you rather have a passed c pawn or e pawn in an endgame? If they're both on the 7th/2nd rank, it wouldn't really matter, but generally speaking, wouldn't you take the c pawn?
