Are chess engines in unrated daily chess games allowed?
I don't think telling a story that cannot be verified will allow you to use a chess engine here.
Not saying you're lying or anything, but that would make it way too easy for the real cheaters, don't you think ?

Yes, it is allowed for unrated games. But note this:
If a game is going to allow computer or outside help it will be clearly noted in the game description.

Greetings Mr. Frendzas,
This is good to know as I am interested to have Chess System Tal 2 and one or two other gems play here to acquire some notion of their performance rating on contemporary hardware [I have a 4 ghz 8-core system - CST2 is only 1 core but still this is much better than with a 90 mhz Intel Pentium or whatever from back in the 1990s]. Probably "computer opponent" or something like it needs to be the account name so that everyone knows the scenario before accepting a game.

You should check with the site before creating an account for a computer program. Members are only allowed one account and what pfren posted is the guideline for players that want to play Centaur Chess (primarily).

Hi Martin,
Yes, I will check before doing this. In Centaur Chess which isn't what is in mind I am sure that Chess System Tal 2 would lose every game - the opponent could just let Stockfish or Komodo make all the moves and sit back while relaxing with a nice cup of tea! :-D

This is an example of Chess System Tal 2 on contemporary hardware. With not only the Tal but also the Nimzowitsch and Capablanca functions in its massive evaluation algorithm the games would be interesting.

If it's allowable for unrated games, then I don't think it ought to be. I sometimes get game requests from people who want to play unrated, in order to learn. I do NOT want to end up playing a computer, because what would be the point? So I shall no longer accept such requests. Thankyou.
These games would be on offer and not requested by CST2. In my opinion it is unacceptable that you have played computer opponents without your consent which your description seems to imply is something that you have experienced.
