“accept chess is a sport”
whether chess is or is not a sport, at the end of the day, comes down to preference and personal opinion. It is not definitive. You cannot say it is a sport for sure, when it is still debated. You can give your opinion, and state your reasoning behind your opinion (like others in the forum) but you cannot say it definitively.
I kept an huge passage about it.. you can go read it.. wait will send it.. first question? Does chess not give any exercise? Even of brain and body? Lets forget about body.. it atleast gives brain exercise you know.. arguing such facts would not do anything.. u can say definitely If it's true.. second question:- is chess really useless? (Like video games) obviously no.. you see as i said it gives brain exercise which is an part of the body anyway and also we get dehydration at certain cases you know? In fact it's sooooo stressful too and it gives exercise to our body indirectly too.. you those who are against are just newbies to chess or don't play it seriously for sure lol 🤣 third and last question? As we know sports are meant to be competitive Is chess competative? Obviously it is. There are sooo many tournaments/events and so on organisations.. in fact it's even fun
So you see it also has signs of what a sport should have and federation did the correct thing to mention it as an sport.. go argue to them or wait it's debate lol for me unnecessary debates are also arguments
There is lots of physical activity. let me ask you this, how many world championship sports events were called off by the organizers and officials because they were afraid one of the athletes was going to die? Well that has happened in chess my friend. Kasparov verse Karpov. Dude spent 3 days in the hospital and almost died. FIDE controversially ended the competition beforehand. because they were worried about his health.
A more recent example is Levy from Gotham Chess going straight to the emergency room after his last game in a tournament over seas not too long ago. These pro players look just as out of breath as athletes after a match. Most of them work out like Athletes. Because the fact is the Mind and the Body are connected and affect each other. Even us behind the computer are exercising our hand eye coordination which can be considered physical skill.
now this is what all those chess 'haters' or those who dont classify chess as not a sport and something nonsense.. or talk like chess is ONLY sitting.. should see.. this comment of yours says everything sir.. and i really support him.. sure.. chess is NOT AN PHYSICAL sport.. but its an sport?? fools like you would think its only sitting one person used like a s s word lol... i felt laughing on it how idiotic foolish he was.. so yeah let me continue what i was saying... chess is not only sitting.. it requires brain power.. good observation.. good thinking patterns.. its soo stressful and of mental exertion but sure it does not comprise of physical exertion.. still brain is a part of our body right? lol would you argue for that statement too foolishly? i bet you would i guess lol.. anyway chess IS AN MENTAL SPORT.. but not athletic if we ONLY play chess.
btw fun fact:-all chess players dont sit for twenty fours like gamers:-who sit on their a s s e s lol and ONLY PLAY CHESS being in their home continuously staring at device.. btw have you ever heard about board chess?? its not gadget sooo chess is also not an e sport lol.. so yeah continuing.. most of us do physical sports.. even gamers do so.. but.. remember still chess is classified as sport and video games as e sports.. another foolish kid saying like this that.. if chess is sport.. monopoly tv snake and ladders.. ludo.. all these are sports.. oh boy all these sports need luck.. and chess does not need luck.. it need talent.. talent not all people have as mostly smart people play chess.. still everyone have the capacity but it takes alot of stress especially brain power.. note down this point too.. chess is an mental sport and some of the chess players are athletes.. tbh i could say all of them as remember brain is more important than body.. anyway lets call chess an mental sport and chess players as mental athletes haha
more info:- some people talking nonsense as usual saying chess players are kids.. or talk like chess is overrated.. just one statement to them.. dont take chess like video games lol...
meanwhile some people saying like burning calories is not equal to physical exercise.. what does physical exercise do then?????.. ummm probably unnecessary comment
meanwhile do you really think chess as ONLY STARING? we use brains to think at each position.. what to move when to move etc.. probably you have never played chess seriously lol
chess is also fun.. but is also serious in the other placee
chess players may not be athletes... remember some of them are
but..
chess IS an sport.. mental sport...
why its not there in olympics?? good question btw bro.. yes its not there but there are in certain organisations like fide uscf etc.. meanwhile tournaments.. etc.. there is one rating called like ELO etc.. just to test your strength.. anyway if was rude anywhere.. sorry for it..
no matter how many foolish/false comments you keep on sending on to breakdown this comment
remember you can never breakdown this fact even if by breaking down by comment, winning the argument in this forum lol
Fact:- CHESS IS AN SPORT.. MENTAL ONE NOT PHYSICAL.. WE CAN SAY MOST OF THE CHESS PLAYERS ARE ATHLETES.. NOT ALL OF THEM THO.. BUT ALL CHESS PLAYERS ARE "MENTAL"/MIND/BRAIN" ATHLETES..
edit- i cant type much this comment says all.. even if you respond to the comment or not i guess this comment says all..
This is the passage
Arguments get this unnecessary stigma of being “bad”. Arguments (most of them, at least) are totally fine. The word is literally a synonym for debate, after all. People think argument just means mindlessly throwing around insults, but that’s not true at all. Unnecessary debates, at least for me, are a way to pass the time while talking about something I enjoy.
You cannot say that chess is a sport as a fact, because it is debatable. Nothing is fact. Nothing that I have said, nor you have said, nothing is fact, they are all just opinions. You say that I am acting like a fool, but the one who cannot even speak without bypassing the swearing filter, or cannot tell the difference between facts and opinions, I think you are the fool here.
Btw, quit making up subcategories of the word “sports”. There is no such thing as a “mental/mind sport”. You are butchering the definition of the word. It is people like you that come up with a million different genders and s*xualities and undermine actual people who identify as non heteros*xual. You are undermining the definition of the word sport by making up definitions and subcategories as you like.
"You are butchering the definition of the word. It is people like you that come up with a million different genders and s*xualities and undermine actual people who identify as non heteros*xual."
That's quite a leap you took there. I'd say an unnecessary one and most likely an unproductive one. I didn't say inappropriate, but some might.
But I agree about arguments. They are positions you take, not fights. Confrontation is a similar one that's misunderstood.

Eh...that’s like the only comparison I know. I usually always use parallels when I am arguing a point, and I couldn’t think of any other ones. When you dilute the meaning of a word, and give it multiple meanings (“mental sport”) you take away from the original meaning. A good comparison would be dumb genders on Twitter that these dumb people make up to try and make themselves feel special, that takes away from actual non-straight people. If you have a better comparison I could substitute, I’m all ears.
maybe I’ve been online too much
Jellyfish aren't fish. Peanuts aren't nuts. Koala bears aren't bears. Strawberries aren't berries. Guinea pigs aren't pigs. Fireflies aren't flies. Glowworms aren't worms. Seahorses aren't horses. Mind sports aren't sports and cyber-athletes aren't athletes.
I don't think there is universal agreement on the definitions of athlete, sport, etc, other than general definitions that don't answer the current questions. So it seems rather pointless....we all know exactly what chess is, so I don't see the point of trying to force it unnecessarily into a box labeled "sport". It's an argument that can never be won or proven, and the only thing to gain is a better understanding of how others might feel about it....but that rarely is the objective of the debater. Just once, I'd like to hear someone say, "I understand. That's interesting.....I didn't see it that way, but you make a good point."
No, it's more like "You are a narcissist, a knucklehead, a psychopath, and no one agrees with you. "
All I can say is, "Good thing they don't allow politics here".
Exactly my thoughts. Sports is a label created by people for certain activities, and it is a matter of preference whether you want to include chess or other games for that matter in there. The only difference there is the level of physicality in the activity.

an chess hater be like.. lol i dont listen to dumb chess haters like you.. give me 1000 essay for your argument on chess is not a sport (for real) still it dont change facts lol.. so what if its debatable.. its just your false opinion.. even international chess federation declined it a long ago.. debate to them you know not us.. anyway do you really think we will agree with chess haters like you? keep on saying chess is not a sport with crores of words oh boy mind it its just waste of your time.. but why would i care about fools like you??
Chess is recognized as a sport. The International Olympic Committee has recognized chess as a sport. While this acknowledgement falls shy of recognition as an "Olympic Sport" which would merit inclusion in the Games, it is an acknowledgement of the sport-like properties inherent in chess.

now again fools/chess haters what have you come up with again?? saying link is fake/those true words of Google?
sure we could say the same thing.. this will never come to an conclusion till the earth gets ended.. literally those who play chess seriously say chess as an sport and those who dont or play video games all day dont know all that.. just hate chess and always try to be against in chess -_- by mentioning your opinions.. i have seen another link (not an link some sort of article) which is true that dont care about those chess haters who dont say chess as an sport.. chess is an sport thats the truth.. its an physical one article in overall not link actually.. sure some people would love to debate (and waste time) like you

this link is true.. yeah as fools/chess haters you will argue but we dont care as whatever in this link are mentioned are true anyway
important points and facts:-
People’s opinions on the matter of physical exertion vary, so what we really need is an official arbiter.
Fortunately, we have exactly this: The International Olympic Committee is surely the authority whose opinion matters most on such matters. To them, chess is considered a sport.
Because of the physical exertion (which is unquestionably there, though not easily seen), and the International Olympic Committee’s word, we have our answer to our original question: Is chess a sport?
Yes! Chess is a sport!
Still, the image and status of chess varies strongly from country to country. In the former Soviet Union and today’s Russia, for example, chess has always had a high status.
After hours of combat, you would have finished the game feeling drained in both mind and body. Mental exertion manifests itself physically – a tough game of chess can elevate the heart rate, heighten a player’s blood pressure and cause perspiration, even though chess hardly involves much kin-aesthetic movement beyond furrowed brows and nervous trips to the bathroom.
Top chess grandmasters recognize the need to keep their bodies in peak condition.. mentioning facts.. your false opinions ( telling to those fools/chess haters/video gaming addicts or whatever nonsense) will not do anything, will just waste your time, will not make us disagree (as we dont disagree to facts like you lol),will not lead to an conclusion in this forum but already the chess federation gave us the conclusion that chess is an sport
Chess is the exercise of the brain , we can consider it a sport
yes bro exactly thats what even i am trying to say.. we are just stating facts chess haters you know who only know video games or something nonsense dont agree to facts

I don't think anyone hates that chess is not a sport, they just accept it.
Things like poetry, music, literature have been Olympic events. Nothing wrong with including those things, or even chess, in the Olympic Games. But that really has nothing to do with identifying something as a sport. It's not the job of any Olympic committee to determine what is, or is not, a sport.
