I learned recently (from you) not to judge others' opinions nor the expressions thereof. I would remind you of that conversation and ask you to reconsider this comment in that light.

Yep, I'm 71 and still do serious mountain-climbing when I get the chance. I also do 12 mile walks, run occasionally and do weights. I've been a decent footballer, in my time. None of that means that chess is a sport. It's a bleedin board game and people should stop trying to live in their fantasies and they should at least pretend to get real.

Even if you are 1000 why should I care when you don't listen to me anyway and blabber in your whole fantasy world leaving the reality.. chess is a sport.. no fantasies created we are talking facts sir.. not false fantasies creations by you..

chessisNOTez884

Physical exertion also took at some scenarios in chess and it could possibly be told sport.. which is true.. all these we are mentioning are facts.. we have even sent link but we know blabberers like these chess haters/gaming fans/addicts do.. just don't listen to us and blabber.. as i said read and then blabber till earth gets exploded

now again fools/chess haters what have you come up with again?? saying link is fake/those true words of Google?

sure we could say the same thing.. this will never come to an conclusion till the earth gets ended.. literally those who play chess seriously say chess as an sport and those who dont or play video games all day dont know all that.. just hate chess and always try to be against in chess -_- by mentioning your opinions.. i have seen another link  (not an link some sort of article) which is true that dont care about those chess haters who dont say chess as an sport.. chess is an sport thats the truth.. its an physical one article in overall not link actually.. sure some people would love to debate (and waste time) like you

I don't think anyone hates that chess is not a sport, they just accept it.

Things like poetry, music, literature have been Olympic events. Nothing wrong with including those things, or even chess, in the Olympic Games. But that really has nothing to do with identifying something as a sport. It's not the job of any Olympic committee to determine what is, or is not, a sport.

and its not the job of any random boi/girl/man/lady to debate on a fact.. if we declined you could argue tons of hours but its the committee go argue to them they would not listen to anyway? btw who are you to say its not their job mr. unknown (for me) i would support the committee rather than random people lol

So if there was a transgender committee and they told you that you're a man, you'd be ok with that, because it must be a fact?

???? talk on topic not off ...  its olympic

That isn't off topic. It's an analogy which shows that you can't go on what everyone says just because they seem "official". You have a mind of your own, so use it.

Chess is an sport.. don't wanna listen nonsense about transgender.. Olympic committee tells the truth.. and i always trust them in this matter rather than random fools on internet like you.. you are old.. then why are you talking like that against chess?

No, those are competitions. There is a difference between a sport and a competition.

You see.. you want me to say chess is not a sport then your time wasting will pay off right lol 😂🤣  see.. basically.. fact will never get changed the committee already said it's sport bro.. i guess you all debaters/time wasters are just arguing for no reason.. you cant keep negative conclusion to facts.. chess is a sport.. why don't you all chess haters/gaming addicted/fans just read the link i a way that your whole brain will understand it? Or else kept yourselves egos to make sure that you just win this trash forum? Oof

stop making up definitions to fit your needs. a mental sport is not a thing.

Mind sports are a thing though but in those we have quizzes, competitive programming and esports.

but you dont mention chess??? anyway instead of esports mention chess it would make some sense

Read the wiki links. Obviously the five first board games that were in the mind game category shouldn’t need to be mentioned but sure: go, checkers, chess, bridge and xianqi are what was originally in the mind sport official games.

But you are correct, most esports are more physical than mind sport so it was wrong of me to include them in that category.

esports are not physical.. you are  video gamer and dont know anything about chess thats for sure... chess is an sport consisting of physical exertions.. even my link is true dont think only wikis are true

The brain is a physical organ, so everything is physical. Maybe we should substitute the word "muscular"....as in "requiring muscular exertion" rather than "physical" exertion.

You're welcome. (It's all I can contribute to this lofty debate)

Yup this right here. Extended periods of concentration, calculation and other brain activity puts a physical strain on human body. Therefore if chess doesnt fit in the category of sports, sports must be defined with muscle activity or something idk. This is starting to sound funny, I don't know why I'm participating in this debate. It's obvious chess is different from "other" sports activities but is muscle activity the key concept for this definition?

  1. Some, like any turnbased games are as physical as chess. Others, like cs or tekken, are some what more physical than chess and lastly we have some, mostly dance dance revolution, wiifit, vr and similar games where physical activity for a large part of the body is part of the interface, which could almost be called athletic or eathletics. I will use patriots question: if I call out moves and some one else is doing them for me, am I still playing chess and is it still physical for me? Because I can’t do same thing in dance dance revolution or tekken and still claim that it is i who is playing.
  2. Played chess long before you was even born and now a days i play mostly chess and duolingo so nah on the whole gamer part.
  3. Nope it mostly isn’t. As I said earlier, I can play chess by just telling where to move and somebody else can move for you. This is why CooloutAC think that speed chess is a sport, because players have to be quick and precise.
  4. One whole year has past and I am as bad at chess as before and you still haven’t improved neither your argumentation nor your source criticism. Once again you are using blogs with obvious bias and refuse to read anything else. Even when my links would support your claim, since they talk about mind sports.

Well. Isn't it? Or, is bullet chess a video game?

Muscles burn fuel to create mechanical energy. The brain burns fuel to create chemical energy. So they both burn fuel and they both create energy. Why distinguish between them? What's the real question here?

I would say mental strain affects the body physically,  but I would not call it physical activity.

You can call it or not call it whatever you choose. When fuel is burned and chemical energy is thereby created, seems to me a strong case that is is physical activity.  Burning energy is certainly physical, so I guess you're arguing that it's not an "activity".  It would follow, I suppose, that chess, then, is not an activity.
