Are the Leagues too easy?

I am writing this forum to have a discussion on Leagues, and whether they are too easy to do? As of posting this, I am entering the Crystal league with a little over 500 points and every past promotion under 500 points. I read about how Martin Stahl during beta couldn't get past Silver. Yet as I have done it so easily maybe they need to add more leagues or challenging rules. Since the rate I am going at will allow me to move up to Ruby and Champion League pretty soon. What are your opinions on this issue? Please Note: That it has taken me multiple months of getting good runs with low activity people. So by when I mean quick, it means a couple of months. I usually get promoted once a month.

Depending on when you normally play and what division you get placed in, it can be easier or harder. In the beta, I wasn't really trying too hard to promote, but after release, Silver to Crystal required over 1,800 trophies and Crystal to Elite took almost 1,600. That latter was after missing the previous week needing well over 5,000  to have a chance.

My division this week is going to need over 6,200 to advance. My highest week was 2,226 and I might have been able to break 3,000 if I had played more, but would have required a significant increase in playing.

At the top couple of levels, with a lowe number of promotion slots, you'll have to get lucky to get a division needing a low number of trophies.

Usually it takes me 1 week wait and I get into a lucky league.

Same with me, up to 2 promotions a month just started in Crystal today . Second time always feels more comfortable

There's some luck involved.  After five weeks, I'm going to advance to Crystal (740 points, lowest advancer 580 points).  I'm speculating, but it appears that no one in my division takes the league seriously, and, unlike past weeks, my normal playing habits were adequate for advancing.

You probably get put into a league with similar players. I typically have less than 200 trophies.

Sometimes the leagues are full of people who get several hundred trophies, and luck plays a huge part in being in a division with a low enough barrier to advance.

It's been easier than I expected so far, probably because I started a few weeks late. And I may be lucky to not be assigned to such a competitive league, I advanced every week except one so far with less than 300 points per week,  just recently making it to Silver level with 181 points. The lowest to advance in my division had 165.  I expect Crystal will be a lot harder to get to and I may not ever get there but I am happy with Silver for now. After a break for a week or two I may try another push for promotion.

How can people even get 5000+ trophies in one week. I dont understand this. Are they playing 8-12 hours per day?

They even get 17000 trophies. How they do that …. no idea
StumpyBlitzer

Yes they are putting in the hours, if you can and want to grind for that long then you will get that amount also.

Not sure. I played on day like 8-12 hours I think i got like 800 trophies from that. It was 5 min blitz non arena. So I guess you can boost it by playing 3 min arena and maybe get 1500 trophies by the same time. But thats one extreme day. And take 7 of this days and you end up 10500 trophies. So that would be a little more then half of that. So to me in order to reach 17k you would have to be more then one person. Atleast 2 or 3 so you can take breaks and let your friend play on the same account. That way you can keep games going 24/7.

Someone already got more than 1000 trophies within half an hour of start of league?? Impossible!!! Today on 27-03-2023

There were weeks where I needed over 1,000 trophies to promote… but I just got into Champion League with only 270 this week.

Im in champion, and have been for a long time, i hit elite within 6weeks of playing leagues

TourDeChess7

It took me 6 weeks from when I joined Chess.com to promote to Champion League. I did it by playing Rapid 10 for fun & during that time I averaged 17+ games per day.

I have never been close to promoting to Legend League. Possibly #13 is my highest finish in Champion League since promoting January 01, not sure I got that high...I usually average around mid-30's.

I've read in forums that you can't promote to Legend League without playing at least a certain percentage of games in Blitz, Bullet or Arena format...that you can't earn enough points with Rapid format games. In my 4 months since joining, my game play has settled down to an average of 9 games per day. I now play Rapid 15-10 & Daily. No motivation to grind for Legend League.
