Are the Leagues too easy?

I joined Legend after finishing 1st of the Champion's league. I thought that there would be very few Legend chess players since getting there was super tough, wrong there are 480 433 people who are Legends. Indeed, there are X parallel leagues. It seems secret because it isn't mentioned.

Some people get to the Legend league without really knowing how? In addition,  rest assured this is BS and does not change anything. Zero benefits, not even a Diamond free membership for one year.

Those who know chess.com won't be surprised after all, a Moderator (only two are visible, @Martin_Stahl  @StumpyBlitzer  and @justbefair) does not receive any salary despite the difficult work, just a diamond membership. Normal?

I think all of you please check the persons  with highest number of trophies just about half an hour from the start of league every Sunday.

You should be able to go down leagues as well as go up leagues to make it more competitive

Raphael

No, please no

The league really isn't competitive (you don't usually play the members of your division). In general, the leaders in the divisions are the ones who play the most games. In many of the divisions that I have been in, it's the lower rated players who are the division leaders. They play faster, and their games have fewer moves. Thus, they win or draw more games than the higher rated players, and accrue more "trophies."

Do people really care about those?

They're pretty and it's fun to have challenges but what arethe prizes? And does the league tournaments have titled players or do us plebes have a tiny chance to win?

If a division doesn't start until Friday or after, but before the Sunday reset, it won't end until a week later. So it's possible to have some divisions where a lot of trophies have been accumulated over the previous two days, directly after the weekly reset.

There aren't any prizes for regular division play, but the Legend league club used to have monthly Arena events and prizes. Those had titled players and rating based prizes.

July 02, 2023, I made Legend League and was among the 760,823 Legends Club members that day. Today 3.5 months later Legends Club has 1,150,914 members. After a generous 100 members, I think "Legend" loses it's "Legendary" status. It does tell me that a Legend holder seriously enjoys playing chess and is very active. I played mostly Rapid 10 or 15/10 games all the way up the ladder, until the last rung when I had to learn to play Blitz 3/0 to make the last jump (to get the extra points needed at that level). I've since been told that it is easier to make it quicker with less games played, by joining arenas due to arena points counting towards League promotions. It's definitely not too hard to do, you just need to play a lot of games and win to earn points.

I went from Stone to Legend in 1 week stages, except for a week where I was on holiday. The most I needed was I think 2400 trophies, the least around 850 in a week; it depends on the competition. There´s a certain psychological element in it; if you can get a lead of say 100-200 and then manage to keep ahead for a couple of days, your rival for #1 tends to lose interest and probably thinks: ok, then next week. It sure is hard work, you have to clock in the hours and not give up despite the inevitable loss phases. Arenas give more points, but that´s also where the engine users and sandbaggers hang out and you may well find yourself getting whupped by 400 rated players.

Once you´ve got Legend though, you basically lose interest in the whole circus and are glad that the stress is over. The benefits are zero, niente, there´s nothing to win, no prizes or stuff. You´re just glad that the race is over.

(PS I did everything on Blitz, rating 1100-1200. It´s not about how good you are; it´s about the willingness to spend hours a day playing.)

wow

Hey can you all view my profile im in a race to 1k profile views with some1. Yes leagues are too easy.

The more you want to get trophies the more you lose your points.
You may get wood, stone, bronze, crystal and after few you reach champion. Then the tougher things begin. You got your champion league and you saw your points are down down.
In this way when you get legend, you have no brain power to compete Arena.
hahahahah.

Leagues are not at all important. Chess is important. How to play chess better. That is important.

Sandbagging tendency started to compete the league system. Sorry to say but this is the FACT.
And @Spreeathener wrote right. This league will take you nowhere. After the legend you will see that you know nothing about chess and you lost VALUABLE times.

Yes, the Leagues competition ended in February 2022. There were some nice prizes.

They left the structure in place. There are no more prizes.

I don't agree that you lose valuable time. The winner of each division is usually the player who plays the most games. I rose to Legend not by playing many games, but by playing at my normal pace. Sometimes I was in a division with ambitious players, and I finished near the bottom. Other times I was in a division with casual players like myself, and I finished near the top. It took little effort to make it to Legend. It just took several months.

Thanks God I even did not know this. What prize, why prize. First we have to play chess good. We even don't know how to play chess better. Well I am a beginner and I am trying my best

Everyone is not YOU. Most are trying to compete for legend by hook or crook. And I mentioned that point.

indrachess20232024

You may see that a lot, yes a lot having only 400/500 rating and staying in champion league. What the heck man!
.
So my point is -- if they focus on their game. The chess. Then it will be different picture. Well, they are addicted to get league only and time passes. Neither they learnt chess well, nor they are standard player to be a Legend Player.
sorry. My English is very bad
