I have been playing a bot slightly under my rating with no time limit and I believe it helps in playing safer chess if you have an aggressive loose style which can get you in trouble in live chess.
Are there difficulites in transfering skill against robots to real games?

I used to play serious table tennis (USATT rating 1550, close to average). The club had a robot that would shoot balls at you (very very spinny). I looked really good against that robot, but I was never able to transfer those skills to real games. Is playing chess robots similar?
