100% of the grid? Almost never for me. However, I don't think I use electronics daily as much as some people do. Naturally, I use it a lot lately for work/school (and thanks to you too chess.com: you take up a lot of my electronic time xD). I think that the key to not needing these extreme breaks is to simply not get into electronics to the point where it is a daily obsession versus not something to make your life easier.
I've never had a Facebook account, never used messaging services, never had WhatsApp or anything else that others get into. I am not against it (especially those people who use it as communication with relatives or friends who moved somewhere far away), but I've just never had a need for it. Only recently have I got an email and even that was out of necessity for work/school.
There is an obvious need to have knowledge of such in today's modern world, but the fact that it takes up a significant portion of one's life is not a requirement.
If one never gets overwhelmed by the time those things require, then you shouldn't need extreme breaks like going 100% off the grid for a while (although I know it works for some people).
in today's electronic world, it's hard to be not available. sometimes i shut everything down and go "off the grid" for a day or two. ever do this?
