Arena Tournament Pairings

So I am 1600 rated and playing in a 10/0 arena tournament. The pairings are supposed to be rating based. I was on a 4 game winning streak, having defeated a 1700 and 1600 when I get paired against a 2278 rated opponent. And predictably, I got crushed. I don't see 900 rated players getting paired against 1700 rated opponents and in fact three players under 700 were winning the tournament. Explain how this is fair and why I'm getting paired against an opponent over 800 points higher!!

There can be times when it's better to pair a wider range then make players wait for a more compatible opponent in the arena.

The seeding by rating firstly pairs you with an opp from the half down or up depending where you start, and that depends on the ratings of the rest of the players. After that, in a Swiss parings mode, you should be paired with the ones with more or less same tournament points. What is so annoyingly amazing for me (and the reason I won't be playing an Arena again) is that the players below 500 only get paired with themselves and end up winning most of the competitions.

i feel like it should be as points based instead of rating based like real tournaments and the system in lichess arena tmt . everytime it is always some 500-800 rated players winning bcz of faster and easier games . i used to love arenas but in ches com i start to hate
