Why women haven't performed as well as men in chess throughout history is due to much more than emotional temperament, as Aronian would suggest. In all, it's surprising and disappointing that such an (supposedly) intelligent man would hold such blatantly chauvinist views. For those of you who don't know of her, there is a 14 year old Chinese girl named Yifan Hou who has a higher rating than Magnus Carlsen did at her age and who recently lost in the final round of the women's World Chess Championship to Alexandra Kosteniuk. I can't wait until she's beating Aronian's bottom.
Aronian: Women Cannot Play Chess

What's up Robbie baby, it's not your size, well come by anytime you want BB, next time I wont let you down!

Women are things.
Women believe what I tell them to believe. Most of the time, I tell them they cannot play chess.
Lock this thread =/

Ok I guess this is where everyone is supposed to get all angry with your edgy comment and argue with you...

If women played chess as well as men there wouldnt be a "womens section" in events like the Olympiad and world championships for them. Some people are so blinded by current PC that they cant see facts right in front of their face. I am not one of them. Judit is one of the very few exceptions that prove the rule. Also, such titles as WIM, WGM and WFM wouldnt exist if they were truly equal to men in chess. nuff said

Reb, that argument is simply not sound. Gonnosuke's post #59 refutes it nicely, so I won't bother to rehash it here.

Why can't women play chess? It's just a game. In the world of games, chess and other board games, pc and video games, card games, etc. men are better than women in the average. Is that really something to be proud of?

Strange. Well, I'm assuming he's being serious because he is emphasizing how women need "male qualities," yet right after all of this he starts questioning how logical chess is, and says that the best players are the emotional ones. If we take that assumption, as well as his assumption that being emotional is more of a "female" quality, then the conclusion should be that the most talented players are female. It seemed like he was trying to prove the opposite, but confused himself? Maybe he meant something else, but he didn't really elucidate and just appeared self-contradictory.
I don't think it's fair to say so authoritatively what causes the state of females in chess to be what it is, when really it is hard to definitively answer such a question like this because there is an endless sea of variables at play.

I noticed the contradictions. Like him saying that women were too emotional in general to be really good but then says that the best players have to be somewhat emotional. Maybe he meant just a small part of a players personality should be emotional but not too much, not in overwhelming doses.

Cool, she was on dancing with the stars. Did her & Aronian date? How'd you know she was a chessplayer, she said it in an interview on the show?

Levon gettin' down & boogyin' at the Burmuda party.

This is the incident that happened at the party with the young lady in the video above (at the time 19). Sounds like Levon got punched by a jealous GM who didn't like him dancing with her.

Polgar sisters are a great example of women competing and winning at the highest levels of chess in my own club one of our stronger players is female i myself have played and lost to women players (mind you i lose to all different kind of players lol)we are an inclusive sport that teaches us a poor man can beat a king lets not limit ourselves by suggesting 50 % of the worlds population are inferior at chess rather encourage more women to participate and enrich our game,on a lighter note strip chess loses its appeal in same gender opponents
Wonder what Polgar sisters will say. Judith will probably just smile and prove differently to Aronian over the board, but Susan might write something on her blog http://susanpolgar.blogspot.com/
