Ashley's Million-dollar chess tourney - but bring your own clocks

No, SilentKnighte5. It just got a tiny bit more honest.

Not mentioning race is not the same as not being racist. Not being racist is not being biased=not coming up with all kinds of illogical, incoherent, bullshit reasons for hate. We are seeing chess teabaggers and birthers in here. Disgusting.

Scottrf

Just because you think any of those comments have an race related reason doesn't mean that that's the reality.

Stop living in a world where you're a victim. That's all I'll say on your nonsense accusations.

jonesmurphy

Just because you hate the man for racial reasons and cannot offer any coherent justification for your obsession doesn't mean you're not a disgusting creature.

jonesmurphy

Stop living in a world where you're a hateful bigot who cannot explain your hate.

jonesmurphy

Precisely zero of what you've ever offered as rationalizations for your hatred makes any sense at all. It's all a bunch of nonsense coming from you, cowardly bishop and the rest. Just be honest and say Maurice is Obama's secret twin brother from Kenya and that's why you hate his guts, or whatever. Like the Tea Party that inspires you.

Scottrf

Reported for your disgusting baseless accusations.

Very interesting tournament, but I don't know what to think of it.  Is it good for chess? Bad?  Most likely, won't make much difference.

MrDamonSmith, could you be more precise about the evil forces who are pressuring you to regard Maurice Ashley as the Messiah as opposed to the despicable Negro he truly is?

Nice racism, bro. How is this guy not banned, chess.com?

MrDamonSmith

jonesmurphy you're a racist. Everyone here with an IQ above retarded level can see that. YOU are the first one to bring up race, as is always the case with racists. Because that's what racists do, they dwell on race so much that consequently they bring up race all the time. Always remember, the very first person to mention race in any given situation is the racist.

If it's successful, it should be good for chess.  If it's not, it will be business as usual.

As this thread is being hijacked by the psychotic jonesmurphy, I move to close it.

MrDamonSmith

Yes. What a racist jonesmurphy is. Always bringing up peoples race, a prejudiced bigot.

How do you report abusive members like that?

LOL, cowardlybishop indeed! You can hide, but you can't run from being exposed after that series of completely vapid attacks on GM Ashley's character and reputation for absolutely no reason that you can justify. Always remember MrDamonSmith that the first person to mention race is the racist, not the first person to act in a biased manner with no logic and no coherence.

If you do the math, the cost for this thing isn't actually too bad compared to other national tournaments of similar length if you look at housing costs during the tournament. The entree fee is higher, but hotel rates are low in Las Vegas.

Entry fee plus hotel at the cheapest tournament rate comes to $1395 for the Millionaire tournament. Compare to the 2014 US Open, in Orlando, FL, which will be $1126 for entry free plus hotel. (I'm assuming early registration and reservation for both, to get cheapest fees and rates).

That's only 24% higher than the US Open ($269).

The Millionaire has higher prizes, and they go deeper. If you are playing in the Under 1400 section, for instance, the US Open has these prizes:

  • 1st: $1500
  • 2nd: $700
  • 3rd: $500
  • 4th: $300
The Millionaire's Under 1400 has these prizes:
  • 1st: $24000
  • 2nd: $12000
  • 3rd: $6000
  • 4th: $4000
  • 5th: $3000
  • 6th: $2000
  • 7th-20th: $1000
  • 21st-50th: $600

If you can finish in the top 50 of the U1400 section at the Millionaire's, you'll make enough to make the overall cost cheaper than playing in the US Open, and if you can make top 20 you get at least as much as your entree fee back.

I have no doubt that the top spots in all the class sections are going to go to people who are massively under rated, so an actual U1400 probably has no shot at one of the top 5 prizes, but I think it is possible that an actual U1400 can have a good shot at top 50 or even top 20.

Save your breath.  The haters just want to troll and will ignore any data contrary to their position.

Doggy_Style

Not everyone, whose opinion varies from your own, is a troll, or a hater.

I understand that it's a convenient postion to take, but it does you no credit.
