Wow, XDave stop. You have too many questions and they are too personal and stupid. Everyone gets one question. You won't figure out anything from looking at anyalysis he did when he was under 2000, he was probably just going mostly on tactics alone. Also your questions all revolve around a ridiculous desperate desire for yourself to try to get vastly better. No wonder GMs don't do this often.

Okay here's mine: Is there anything else you excel at or do particularly well at that you think could be linked to your chess ability? How are you at videogames, especially competitive ones?

Your questions are just as personal and everybody else

He did say ask me anything, and I'm far from the first person that asked multiple questions, seriously just go read the few pages before this page.

As far as i know, you're the only person that said one question so ill ignore that since you don't make the rules.

I doubt everybody under 2000 just relies mostly on tactics.

I'm not doing this for myself, this is for everyone that wants to improve. Why ask him this in a thread if it's only for myself?

Now, shut up if you have nothing nice to say.

It's funny that you think my questions are stupid because your entire statement besides your question seems more stupid than anything i ever asked.

I never said "everybody under 2000 just relies mostly on tactics", I said him only because of what I know about him. And what's more I said "probably", because it's only conjecture by me rather than a fact.

Please don't ever state or even suggest someone said something they didn't, it's very annoying and misleading. I don't know if you were trying to ask me in an indirect way if that's what I was saying, but please do not do that.

Except that i didn't suggest or state that you said that. Learn to reading comprehension bro : P

I doubt under 2000 players rely mostly on tactics whether it is him or anyone.

Right back at you. Don't state something that i did not do.

Nothing i can do if you what i say is too confusing for you. You're the one misleading yourself and everybody else that will read what you say.

Also , nice strawman argument there so you won't have to apologize for being rude to me and/ or to make it seem like i'm the bad one to some readers. You're pretty amusing.

Well, that's the last you will be hearing from me about that. I don't want to help in starting a possible flame war in this thread. I'll let you finish it too if you want to. I already said everything i needed to say.

The people can easily see who is the more "stupid/ rude" person here.

Good day to you!

THANK YOU FOR ANSWERS !!! :)

How to find a good moves in a near endgame position when there aren't any forcing, active moves?

How to stay focused when you have a winning position(+1 advantage) and still play best moves?

The Mercury web browser works. I'm using it right now to quote you from my phone. In Mercury I chose "User Agent" as Firefox 11.

This is an awesome and fun opportunity.  Thanks.

With so many texts geared toward moving players up the classes, on up to around 2100 (e.g., Yusupov's series and the Dutch "Steppenmoethode"), I have, at least, some knowledge of what it takes to get here; so here is my question: What is it that a 2350 player has done that a 2150 player needs to do to get there?  Is it mostly opening study, or combinations, or endings, or what?

Who'da thunk this thread woulda become a nightmare, disaster zone of unanswered questions?

Hi!

I'm always curious about this one thing: Can a chess pro who plays (teaches) chess for a living still enjoy the game as much as he did in his amateur games?

Did your enjoyment of chess, or your love for the game, diminish or change in any way after you became a professional chess player?

Are there days when you wake up and think "Oh no, I have to play (teach) chess today... not again... I would much rather read a good novel or go to the beach or take my kids to the zoo... I hate chess! This is no fun anymore. It's work. Hard and underpaid work..."?

Good question. I think my passion definitely changed and some fun aspects have been lost since I became professional. But I like competing more than anything at the end of the day so playing still gives me enjoyment. Teaching is more of a temporary thing.

There are definitely long periods where I am burnt out and bored of chess. But until I reach a level that I am satisfied with I will keep trying to move forward..

Are the Grunfeld and catalan/english good openning choices for a tactical 1700 (uscf) player to learn? I currently play 1. e4 and the queen's gambit declined and want to learn new alternatives, but am unsure of what. My coach is an FM that likes the English, so I that is what I was thinking of... I am interested in the Grunfeld because it is a fighting opening with more winning chances than the slav and QGD. Your advice is appreciated!

Question: I have a five year old boy who loves chess and wants to play every day. He is allready beating adults that just know the moves and can do all the basic mates. What do I need to do to help him?

When did you realize you had a special talent for chess, and how did it manifest itself ?

I didn't realize it until quite late (age 15). I then started to study in an organized and serious fashion for the first time.
