Ask Coach

i have a question for you. should I play the nydorf scillan or another scillan
I like the Nydorf. You can also explore the Sveshnikov.

#35, i have the endgames. I love endgames, and i studied them a LOT. Also, when do i go fot the e4 central break? Usually, after i developed all of my pieces. But with the KID/Pirc, i really need to understand when to play e5 vs. when to play c5 and how to time f5/g5. Could you help me? Also, the self analysis is a good idea, but i don't know if i have time or patience to do it….
This idea is beginning to become a bit complex to explain over text. Would you like to call, or message? Also, we can work together on analysis.

I remember being stuck at 1100 for a LONG time, unable to progress to 1300, 1400, 1500 and beyond. To grow, I had to strengthen my openings by reviewing lines for the opposite color, and strengthen my tactics with consistent practice. I would recommend watching videos from GothamChess' Win at Chess Playlist. I would also recommend using the site ChessSquire for puzzles. Analyzing games without Stockfish will also be a huge benefit.

Yeah...I play students on here only, for instructional games.

How to pass 600 elo, my opponents are all cheaters, smurfs, flat out hackers, and people playing at 90% accuracy. I've emailed chess.com support like 5 times but they never ban my opponents. I know this is unfair and I should be 1000 elo because I beat my friend who is 1000 elo twice. And all the games I see at 2000 are just people chomping on each others hanging pieces. It's literally harder to play down here than at the 2000 level, can you please help
I don't think that is all true. The 2000 level is not so cynical. Maybe, stick with it. If all fails,, try closing your account to open a new one.

No it is true, once I got past the 1000 level it became 5x easier because there were no hackers and then I got 2k by listening to some advice from someone here saying to chomp on hanging pieces or something
Agree to Disagree, I guess.

If you are struggling to concentrate, I would try to make the game more interesting. Practice with longer time controls. Use new openings. Try variants.

how do i get past 1700
To get past 1700, I believe the key is the endgame. Much too often, I see 1700s lose winning or drawn positions. You must drill down understandings of imbalances and piece checkmates. I would recommend Chess.com's drills. You may also PM for free opportunities and resources.
