Deeply study some openings. Know these openings really well.
Be sure to analyze your losses, and learn from your mistakes.
Study tactics every day. Set the position up on the chessboard to increase visualization.
Read chess books. Play the variations out on the chessboard.
What do you do to prepare for an over-the-board tournament? I play or study chess in the vast majority of my free time, but I would like to know if there is a specific thing I should be focusing on when I have a tournament coming up.

I calculate to the best of my ability escalating it everyday. But I've seem to reach a level where I cannot pursue any further in my Chess strength. Its like everyone at my level is doing the exact same learning at the exact same time...
Visualization is a key to chess. Practice chesstactics by using chesstempo, standard mode. Set the position on a real chessboard board, do not move pieces.
This causes you to force yourself to deeply think, thus sharpening your tactical vision
