Auto abort what is it. And why does it come up only some times?

This is from the Fair Play Policy (Help & Support, down by the green pawn.

On his or her turn, each player has 15-20 seconds to make their first move. If this does not happen, the game will be automatically aborted. This has a negative effect on the Fair-Play record of the player failing to move. (But if you hit Abort, it affects your record! It's best to be patient for a few seconds.)

First no naming and shaming in the forums, so you might want to edit your post before a mod does.  Insults, abuse?  This link:

And disconnects?

Hope that helps.

I was using the "classical Android app" which allows to chose white or black. I got 4 reply to the challenge all assigning me black when I said I wanted white. I aborted them under the implied assumption I had a choice. Now I realize I am subject to "bad marks" under the Fair Play policy. Is there any way I can explain?

Thanks for your responses. Sometimes I'm playing and in the middle of the game, not at the beginning the auto abort appears and time runs out. Does anybody know why.

Sometimes you have a disconnect and don't realize it.  Depending on your time control, you only have a certain amount of time to think or the program thinks you've abandoned the game.  You of course think everything is fine because you don't realize the other guy has made his move.  Next thing you know the game is over. It's a good idea to refresh the page just to make sure if your opponent seems to be taking too long.  OK that's just an educated guess based on what I've read here; I don't actually know how any of this sh#t really works. Laughing
