Auto-Queen on or off?

Yes! That's what I thought... it must have more pros than cons at least in quick games.

I have played in the 15 seconds tournaments at Lichess lately (after a break) and it is basically about premoving every move. 30 seconds tournaments here are a little bit like that too, but not as much. It's a bit crazy I know. I have played the 15 seconds games to improve my speed but it has resulted into some of the worst premove blunders here so not much help. Perhaps more helpful to practice puzzle rush 3 min. Current record 22 a couple of days ago. I know it is not even top 1000 but anyway. Practicing quick reactions to situations.

I auto queen because the scenarios where I need to queen and mate within 1 second happens more often that the scenarios where I need to underpromote to win

I have it off because I don't usually end up in time scrambles

Ah I'm a filthy flagger so can't relate

I also flag people

But I don't play bullet that often

Only when I want my heart rate to spike

Happens to my friend everytime he plays speed chess...how many times do I have to tell him no speed chess

Once he even joined a 10 second ultrabullet tournament and tilted his rapid so much 🤦🤦🤦

I play bullet just before OTB classical games maybe I should stop doing that 😂

He lost like 5 games in a row

I have the problem of getting elevated heart rate when hitting a winning streak in 960 bullet tournaments... it seems about 10-11 wins in a row and I start to blunder because of my heart. Not drinking a big cup of coffee before tournaments has helped but then the end result has been less points. For example 40 points with coffee nr.4 (crazy heart), 35 without nr.7 (balanced heart). Getting repeatedly left out of getting a medal has been irritating. If I could be energized enough yet not so much to start super fast heart rate it would be perfect. I'm hoping that auto queen will help with the heart rate issue too. Less to worry about during intense gaming.

At least I have 3 bronze medals in 960. But I would like to win and get silver too.

But yes I agree my rapid and blitz go worse when I start to play 1 minute games or quicker games. But having speed is kinda my thing 😅🙈

I have been doing jump rope exercises because it also brings up the heart rate in hopes that I will get more chess stamina too... but it is also a controlling nerves issue with speedy chess. Not just physical stamina although having physical stamina can help. I'm doing my everything to experiment what helps! I always have a freshly squeezed citrus juice before a tournament for c-vitamin content. It's part of my daily routine. But yeah conflicted about coffee if it's useful or not. I have tried having a small cup of it, but didn't have success with that. Less than with big cup or no coffee.

If you press the alt key on your keyboard when promoting, it will be disabled.

I only use mobile. Not much luck in today's 960 tournament. Only got to auto queen once. At least hanged on to 900+ elo. Got to 1000 for one minute this week. This stage of competition is demanding. I can only imagine what it is like on the pro level.

It's a mysterious combination of luck and stars aligned etc. in order to succeed in the tournaments. I got all the bronze medals in one week for a few weeks ago. That was a special week. Getting medals is a double edged sword. When you start getting them you expect to get them in the future too and it's annoying when coming close but it's not happening. Breaks are important too and probably not becoming greedy with medals.

It's the best feeling when I'm completely lost but they have to underpromote and waste 10 seconds doing it

I mean I still lose usually but at least I inconvenienced them

Hmmm the visual tricks can be an aid in desperation when not actually having a chance but there's a chance to make the opponent have to think hard for their next move and then u are winning with time. In 15 sec tournaments it's important to keep checking the opponent. That takes most time to get out of the check.

In my opinion it would be equally embarrassing to loose with time having under promoted to a knight than to loose because of not being able to under promote to knight. I guess the pro player would rather loose with time than to loose because auto queen. But if bringing the statistics into play then using auto queen makes more sense than not using it. In bullet or ultra bullet where seconds or less time determine winners.

My suspicion: even pro players might have the function on but will never admit it 😜

I had a terrible loss streak of 10 this evening and I am starting to feel like auto queen is just bad luck. Do whatever works for you best, but I'm going to put it off after just one day of using it. It just doesn't feel right for me. (Or I need a scapegoat to blame my losses on)

Also I think I should continue with lessons. I stopped after 1000 lessons. There was an achievement for that by the way! I think that doing lessons daily helped with pattern recognition and now I feel like I start to forget stuff I learned. I think it's important to continue learning and not stop because of reaching a particular number. Same goes with elo.

I have it off to avoid stalemate situations.

Yeah... I think it feels very unprofessional to have it on and that's the main problem - it affects self esteem. If u want to win gotta have a winning attitude! Not a "I need this thing to win" no, gotta win regardless 😁 Although got loosing streak of 6 this morning too... it didn't matter much to have auto queen off. I only started to warm up during the end part of the tournament. Only got 15 points ugh. I still have to work on getting that winner attitude! And my battle spirit back. I had it and I lost it a bit somewhere.

I shouldn't be scared of the high heartbreak. If it happens it happens. Should just remember to breathe if getting a winning streak. I don't get any high heartbeat from loss streaks, so heartbeat is a natural byproduct of winning and I should just embrace it! After all people exercise to get the heartbeat up so it's basically just chess exercise 😁 That's been my issue here, that's why I tried the auto queen if it would help with the heartbeat issue and nerves but that's not the solution. The solution is celebrating life and a beating heart.
