I recently played a game of automate (one of the new chess variants) and was very confused. In automate, you set up pieces on the board. You get 35 'points' worth of pieces, where:
Pawns = 1
Knights = 3
Bishops = 4
Rooks = 5
Queens = 7
Kings = 0
You must place 6 pawns at the start and your king at the end. Pawns can be place on the 2nd or 3rd rank while piece can be placed on the 1st or 2nd rank. After placing your pieces, equally strong engines fight it out to see who would win. I ended up in a dead draw position and my bot resigned. Why?
