Aww-Rats

I am listening to them myself, just doing lesson 2. The lessons are pretty good. I am paying more attention to the analysises than the openings though...

Especially good are lesson003, lesson005 (how to open as White with e4 or d4 and bypass all the lines your opponents learned from books, and the KIA games in the forums (a single opening for White good against anything Black throws at you). There are also simuls on STAR Defense (a single defense against anything White throws at you) as well as the Nimsowitsch Defense. I assume lessons 6 and on are good too.

Watch his game analysis videos. The videos of him talking about openings are just recommendations, and I never used any of his recommended lines except for maybe blitz sometimes. Don't get overly concerned about openings- he himself proves that openings don't really matter! He plays the KIA (which gives black equality) and the Nimzovich (which is played by approximately six other people in the entire world). And he gets away with it even at master level. My point is not that you should play those openings as well- the point is that openings don't matter at under 2300 level as long as they're somewhat playable. So focus on his videos about middlegames and endgames!
BTW @Agogwe, while FIDE ratings are definitely a bit higher than USCF ratings, that statement cannot be true. Just look at his tournament results from the past year. He'd definitely be 2000, probably not 2100 but certainly not 1700 or lower.
Strange as I saw him playing computer 3 hard very often. But I will stay on my remark based on my limited chess understanding.

What are your lines, exactly, when someone plays Nim against you?
I just play Nc3 and transpose almost every time into the Vienna game, which I'm sure they know nothing about. If they still try to go e6/d5, they transpose into a lame version of the French.

@Chicken_Monster I play 1. d4 so I don't face this opening. But I still think that after 2. Nf3 and 2. Nc3, black's best in both cases is to forget about playing a Nimzo and play 2...e5 and transpose into something else. But since I don't play it, I suppose I have no idea. It's obviously playable- not a really good opening, but playable.
Has anyone delved into the Aww-Rats resources (e.g., videos, sample games, etc.)? What did you think were the most valuable? I really enjoyed the KIA games, as well as the videos on Chigoran (video lesson 3), video on KIA and other simplified openings for White playing e4 and d4 (video lesson 5), and the STAR Defense simul (I only found one so far).
What else is particularly good? I have not made it past video lesson 5, in which he mentioned he would introduce other simplified openings where you take the opponent out of his prepared lines. Where are those and where are other things I should check out?
