To further complicate matters you can have a bad bishop that is "active" or "inactive" .

I hear this chatter all the time in game analysis and at the local chess club about "bad bishops." I was wondering if anyone could take the time to enlighten me about this concept or point me to an existing article on the subject. I would appreciate any direction or knowledge in this area, thanks.
