Beating Magnus Carlsen

If you followed up correctly to the CPU's move, I think you can roast him. Magnus is not invincible like many posters here make him seem.

Everybody poops people, Even your god magnus.

@UtrechtRose  Oh I see, another Chess.com comedian here to "troll". I can tell by how new your account is. That's the game right? Come here, spew some nonsense, get your account banned and repeat.

Please don't disrespect seasoned, and loyal members of the Chess.com community, who have never caused trouble, been banned or muted. I am here to discuss Chess, not to deal with your pathetic Internet bullying.

I see. Unable to handle criticism you use the old ploy of trying to deflect it by going on the attack.

A troll is someone that gets pleasure out of annoying the majority.  I am the opposite. I get pleasure from calling out trolls that spout nonsense and thereby insult us all.

As for why I am here you could always check out the tournaments I have entered and my games in them and come to the correct conclusion, instead of making baseless accusations.

The length of time you have been here is irrelevant. Check out my other contributions to the forum. There is more good sense in most of them than in everything I have seen of yours combined.

Let the onlookers decide which of us is a troll (or deluded) and which is a serious chess player and student of the game.

Instead of being so cynical, try to be more modest and polite.

I came back to this thread hoping to an intellectual debate on whether Magnus Carlsen could be beaten by a 1200 player + 3500 computer (enter cyborg), instead I find Vladimir and UtrechtRose having an argument barely worthy of a pair of three year olds, what is the world coming too.

I'm sorry about that. I do get a bit defensive when trolls come and try to derail my threads.

I am curious about the probability of a win for me once again. I feel like we never came to a conclusion here.

If you used the computer on every other move, I would rate your chances of getting a single draw in a twelve game match at about 5%.  The computer's choice of a move implies that it will be followed up correctly. At your rating you will consistently follow up incorrectly and undo any good that the computer may have achieved.

I cant imagine the computer could achieve any good at all with a 1200 player as a partner. A couple of moves might be good, but most moves will be disastrous, from a grandmaster or highly rated computer perspective. What is most likely is the majority of moves would be based on random luck, since the computer will try for positions the 1200 player will have no idea what to do with. I would put the chance of a single draw at less than 1%. It's an interesting idea though.

Using an engine every second move? At best you will lose a few moves later than you would have without it.

You can easily test out your ideas by playing against another engine instead of Carlsen. Or for fun you could try "Play Magnus" at the highest age setting. I doubt this strategy would even beat some of the teenage levels.

This is quite interesting. Obviously you wouldn't stand a chance every other move, but how would  a 2200 FIDE compare with Magnus? I'd say a 2200 and higher should be able to beat Magnus with assistance every other move, but it would definitely depend on how tactical the position is. Sometimes its hard to identify the purpose of engine moves, so I wonder if the 2200 could find the engine plans.

Kieran9k

but does he say anything if you win? I need to know.
