You also sometimes see delay used instead of increment. Increment adds time, so if you play fast enough your time left can actually go up. Delay merely pauses the clock briefly when it becomes your move, so you don't lose any time if you play fast enough, but you can't actually gain time.
But chess.com doesn't support delay, only increment.
What is the chess variation 2|1, 3|2, 5|5 and so on ? What does it mean?
