just ignore people like that... I've found from looking at his profile he is actually 37... you'd expect those sort of insults from some teenage troll lol
Behavior of some people

Thanks!
I have observed this sort of thing on other players' profiles, but have only once been targeted myself and in that case, foul language was not used, but a rather ungracious and unprovoked remark was made. I accidentally noticed the same person, making an unpleasant and this time foul mouthed attack on somebody else, whom I had just played and whose profile I looked at out of interest. As far as I know, they had not actually played each other, but the offender apeared just to be attacking the victim for the sake of it. I suppose reporting such behaviour might be desirable as in the end, it is a kind of assault.

But, before you disable the chat window, grab a screenshot/snip!
Further to the above, I see that a moderator has deleted a small section of the original post, taking out a quote and the user name of the guilty party. Would not identifying these people be beneficial? The substance of the abuse is on the plaintive's profile, always assuming he has not removed it.

Having someone have their account suspended and deleted when you can just click an ignore button is overly punitive. My advice to you is to stop crying, and click on ignore or block.

There's the problem of false accusations.

Yes unfortunatly the name and text of the person who send it to me are deleted by a staff member and replaced by the text "[No naming and shaming please. Comment Removed - Mod]".
Normally i would agree but if someone sends abusive text he/she shouldnt be protected by rules that allow someone to keep doing this. With the name exposed others are warned for this person and can block playing or communicating with these persons. With there name hidden nothing prevents them from keep doing this.
In my opinion people who send text messages like i (and many others) received dont belong on a wonderful place like chess.com.
I hope the STAFF might reconsider and find a way to have people who are rude/discriminating/abusive etc. removed or at least blocked a while from playing games. I am sure the majority of the players here will be happy with such a rule.
I for sure dont want to come to chess.com and find text like [removed by mod] " in my mailbox.
Have fun everyone, because thats what chess.com should be all about.
What's to stop me from posting "HvDL did/said X and Y?" I do agree that more should be done, but naming and shaming isn't one of them. All that does is create a mob mentality.

If CC keeps a record of abusive persons (IP-adress) it must be easy for them to block that person from forums, private messaging etc. for a while. All they can do then is play chess , which they obviously don't want to.
I think it is up to STAFF and not the members to make a black-list and I believe CC should be more active to protect us from these bums. In my opinion they let abusive people "off -the -hook" too much.
Many threads on the forum revolve around this problem but it seems CC hasn't found a way yet to deal with it.
I appreciate the above member's concerns and always remembering I could not exactly be described as "IT savvy" as they say, is it not possible to prove conclusively where an abusive message, sent electronically, has originated and would this not ease worries about false accusations?

@hvdl- No worries. I grabbed the username and what was said :) One of the reasons why we don't want people coming to the forums to report abuse is because we don't really want to expose that many more people to what was said. We really do try to keep abuse to a minimum as we have young kids that play here.
So if you do see something that is abusive, send in a ticket here> http://support.chess.com/Tickets/Submit and we'd be happy to help :)
There are people that would believe the accusation despite a lack of evidence. Take this thread as an example. What evidence is there that HvdL's opponent did or said anything? Did you believe he was telling the truth despite the lack of evidence?
Edit: Actually, this one might be a bad example since i think there might have been some evidence before it was removed. However, i've seen other threads that was lacking (before the name was removed.)
I recently go this message in my mailbox here on chess.com:
[No naming and shaming please. Comment Removed - Mod]
It is not the first time people who loose a game send either in game or later by mail these kind of rude messages.
Of course i know i can block chat in games but it shouldnt be needed and it can be fun to talk to those that just are here for a nice game of chess and some fun.
I can also block further emails from someone, i know that.
But my point is this ....
People who behave like this and say or mail text like the above one, dont belong on a chess site that is there for chessplayers who want to enjoy a nice game and enjoy the beauty of chess.
I would strongly be in favor of blocking those accounts for a period (to be determent) after a first time and deleting an account if it happens a second time.
Please share how you feel about this subject and have of course a lot of fun here on chess.com :)
