@hvdl- No worries. I grabbed the username and what was said :) One of the reasons why we don't want people coming to the forums to report abuse is because we don't really want to expose that many more people to what was said. We really do try to keep abuse to a minimum as we have young kids that play here.

So if you do see something that is abusive, send in a ticket here> http://support.chess.com/Tickets/Submit and we'd be happy to help :)

Good point Smile

Sunshiny ...i can easily produce a screengrab proofing it if a STAFF memeber asks me to do so.

I am happy with Jac1yn response ......lets all send in a ticket if it happens and help to have people who cant behave removed from chess.com.

Blocking them helps only yourself ....sending a ticket may also help others not getting the same abusive text that you received from that person.

ConnorMacleod_151

I must hold the largest blocked list on chess.com :))

It works!

I'm glad something has been done too.

I was about to add to the list of possible problems, but let me just say naming and shaming will open up a can of worms instead.

I think Connor is on most members block-list as well. Not without reason as you can see.

I tried doing that to a bully and he made a bunch of new accounts and started saying mean things so I reported both of his accounts

That's another point... people with mutiple accounts. The site must look seriously at this issue.

I want to thank everyone for there input in this topic.

My final conclusion is that we can only get these kind of abusive text in the past if we not only block these persons but also let the STAFF know by sending in a ticket. That little extra effort may help a lot.

If you block someone, only you know why. If you let the STAFF know they may see it happens a lot with a certain person and then take action on it.

Together we can make this place just fun and we can ban step by step all those that prevent us from just having that fun ...... have fun all you chess.com players!

that's a good idea, but the problem is that maybe 10 people will gang up on someone and all report him, and chess.com sees that alot of people reported him, so they ban him, but he  never did anything wrong

It's possible :(

HvdL

firehusky ....if you report someone you send ofcourse not just a name but also the text that person used. If needed you can send a screengrab, but i am sure the STAFF can find out what was send if needed.

Lets not make it more complicated then it really is. I doubt that 10 people will ever send in fake tickets to have someone banned.

I also trust that the STAFF is smart enough not to ban someone unless they are absolutely sure ..... and of course that's the correct way to act.

Lets keep our roles clear in all this:

- we the chessplayers:  here to have fun and enjoy all the great things chess.com offers to us / all we have to do is behave and let the STAFF know if someone doesnt.

- the STAFF: here to have fun ofcourse also and decide who is violating the rules in part based on the tickets we the chessplayers send in and take action on it.

I know i have enough trust in the staff to do there part really well :)

If you "forward" an email you have received to a third party, for whatever reason, can that third party not establish conclusively the original source of the email, as well as the forwarder? If members forwarded abusive messages to the website management, would this not represent evidence of the message. Would not an invitation to managers to view the target's profile, showing the message. suffice?

From my experience a lot of good 'real' girl chess players get bullied and I don't think that is fair.

maybe they shold say that they are boys! then maybe they won' tbe bullied

Good point :)

HvdL

no, bad point .....girls shouldnt have to pretend to be boys.

They should send in a ticket about the one bullying them, so the STAFF can take action.

Please everyone ..... lets keep this simple .... lets just enjoy playing chess and block the ones sending abusive text and send a ticket to the staff if it happens. Have, just as i, trust in the staff of chess.com ..... i think they deserve that based on what we see now .... a wonderful site for all of us to enjoy.

Can you delete a comment you have left on another player's profile? I don't know and am quite happy to be guided on this.

It's called trash talk. Grown men (and women) never do that except when they want to talk smack (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smack_talk). It is not respectable behavior, but it is a normal part of warfare. Deal with it. It is often actually a sign of respect of a worthy opponent!

Maybe that could be acceptable in boxing, but it shouldn´t have place in chess.

Warfare?  Really?

You're, obviously, not a bowler.
