Is it just my imagination or have anyone else noticed how badly other chessplayers treat other players here on chess.com? I think that almost every comment I see on someones wall is mocking that person and very often when playing live chess opponents need to mock other players if they are themself loosing.

I have played over 300 live games and only once has anyone mocked me and that was just when he said "LOL" after he owned me.  ::shrug::

I'm always fascinated by members who draw broad and sweeping conclusions about +6,000,000 other members based on their decades of experience here

I havn't played a lot of games here but I've never suffered deliberate abuse from anyone. About the worst behavior I've experienced is when I wished an opponent 'good luck' in the chat & got no response!

It's only a very small percentage of members who behave badly on this site & you can often deal with them by challenging their bad behavior but always be polite about it - never sink to their level.

As a last resort, just disable chat during games & block abusive people.

After a few years ,some 800 live and another 750 3day games i have not experienced really bad behavior. For me most players are considerate. But this is the internet world so a few oddballs should be expected.Stick w/ it, the future is an open door.

A couple of guys swore at and insulted me when I beat them in either bullet or blitz (I admit that one of my wins was a complete swindle!) but I've never had any other problems. Those comments that I had made me laugh!
