Kinda ruins the fun when a troll breaks character.

Out of curiosity, who is Xieff?

Now see, that's another issue I have....

What's the difference between troll and moron? Is there one or are they synonymous? Sebleb is not a troll IMO (read into that what you will). And Xieff? Well, he has some traits, but then he does something lame like posting the obvious "Vote for me" thread about his awesomeness.

Wafflemaster - you are awesome!!!

A troll is me, a moron is a banned person.

Have you been following his "awesomeness" thread lately? If you're a fan of old school trolling then you're gonna love it! It never was intended as a "vote for me" thread. yes, it did begin as one of Xieff's more light0hearted threads, but if you haven't been following it lately, take a look at some of the the recent comments, and you'll be pleasantly surprised! Right now it's become an absolute masterpiece of hardcore trolling!

I haven't seen it. post a link.

Yeah, a troll should model a perpetually ignorant person who always gives their opinion.  Not necessarily by saying their opinion is always right, but at least makes it known.

SebLeb is a good example.  If at least some people disagree on whether it's a kid, dumb adult, or troll, they've done their job.

Backyard professor has some split views like this also.

Here's a link:

And while you're at it, check out posts #4, 8, 9 and 56. Those are some examples of my best-quality lighthearted trolling!

What also made the site fun was off topic comments that weren't trolls.

AndyClifton is always fun to read (for me at least).

People seemed to get upset that their bishop vs knight topics weren't taken deathly seriously even after 100 posts though... actually now that I think of it there hasn't been one of those in a while.

If that's the best quality, I'm glad I normally avoid those sort of threads.

Avatar of DelCheMethod

No I haven't and here is why....

The thread obviously started as a vote for me troll thread, which was not interesting to me at all. So I haven't seen what trolling is happening.

See, the great troll threads are those that hook you when you least expect it. You know the kind, interesting topic, insightful comments to build up your interest level, then the sneaky troll post hoping someone will bite. Once they bite, the true troll incites slowly (so to not get the thread locked or unfollowed).

Ah, well, we'll see what Xieff brings to the table next.

Remember some of the Parham threads from a few years ago? Those were good troll threads.

Avatar of EDB123

I've been here for 2 weeks. I'll meet everybody later.

I've seen a post about homosexual giraffes on there. He should shut that down.

It seems that people on this thread are genuinely interested in trolling! I'm glad to see that! Since you all enjoy discussing the concept of trolling, and what constitutes good and bad trolling, I thought that maybe you guys would like to participate in the nominations process for the Chess.com Troll of the Month- Dec. 2013 contest! Here's a link:

http://www.chess.com/forum/view/off-topic/nominations-for-chesscom-troll-of-the-month---dec-2013

Nominations just opened up earlier today, so I haven't received many nominations yet. I would be really glad if I could receive some nominations from you guys, who seem to know a thing or two about trolling!

Good trolling = not having to constantly tell people that you're a good troll.
