I recently got into chess and I am loving it. Brings out the competitor in me.
However, every book I pick up goes on to suggest memorizing things pretty quick. I want to see how far I can go just with foundations without memorizing openings or middle games or endgames.
Example of foundations - Try to occupy the center, look for check on every move, what are good pawn structures, how to evaluate a position, etc.
Any suggestion?
