I'd also say 1. Ruy Lopez. It's structurally the most sound and incredibly complex.

On 2. I'm tending to say the Giuoco Pianissimo for similar reasons.
3. Queen's Gambit.
4. King's Indian Defense.
5. Modern Defense.

Agree with 1-2-3, but not with 4-5, which are risky.
