Dozens of threads like this and fewer than 5% of the posters mention anyone no longer living except Booby Fischer. Inasmuch as humans have steadily declined in general intelligence since the Neolithic Agricultural Revolution and the beginning of civilization, it stands to reason that top players 400-500 years ago must have had more raw talent than today’s GMs.
