Chess Traps are beautiful combinations that show brilliant tactical ideas and fascinating concepts. But they usually involve long move continuations, which the opponent is highly unlikely to play. Besides, the gains from most of the traps are outweighed by the risks they involve.
One of my favourite traps is the Siberian Trap in the Sicilian opening by Black, because after a short series of natural moves in the Smith-Morra Gambit variation, White can either lose his Queen or his King.
But Black also needs to keep in mind the different variations that come along with the trap in case the game does not go as planned.
