Have not yet found a perfect reply to e4, but I am just an old wood pusher.
I tend to like the Modern and other fianchetto defenses, but you must be counter aggressive. If you get too cramped you have had it. At least you have your opponent playing the opening you picked.
Lately I have been getting crushed playing the French. Too cramped and hard to defend for an
amateur like myself.
Good luck! The Sicilian at least puts up a better fight, but there are SO many variations, and your opponent is likely to know well the one they decide to play.
