Per MCO, it sounds like Bird's Opening is almost a system where White sets up his units in the same places almost regardless of what Black does. In fact, in some lines Black copies White's moves for at least 9 moves. If I were learning that opening as White the first thing I would do would be to make sure I knew what those locations were. I believe they are: (here, "=>" means "followed by")
f4 => Nf3
e3 => Be2 => O-O
b3 => Bb2
c4 => Nc3
and characteristic after that are d4 or Qe1. You'd have to study the rest yourself because that's as much as I know.
I haven't seen any videos on Chess.com about it. Currently, I'm just learning the dutch Leningrad and trying to use that on white, but I'm wondering if there is a better way.
Ideas would be greatly appreciated!
