Beth Harmon (22)

I'm very much a beginner at chess, I understand the rules but haven't really studied any openings, etc...  I know that you want to control the center and very basic knowledge like that, but that is essentially it and I somehow beat Beth 22 (2700) without any hints. How is that possible?

I have seen some posts where people speculate that the actual ELO is 400 to 500 points lower but even at 2300 - 2200 I should have been absolutely mauled.

Maybe the AI program is adaptive and knows by the first several moves when someone is more or less a beginner and takes it easy on them as to not discourage them?
