Better days than others.

Is it just me or does anyone else feel like somedays they play games extraordinarily, while other days their games donwright suck? This is been happening to me. A while ago I was rated around low 1200's. I have taken about a 4 month break since the last time I played. Then a few days ago I started jumping from low 1200's, to roughly 1300, in just one afternoon. The next day I dropped to about 1260 and stay fairly consistent. Two days later I jump again to about mid 1300's and stay consistent. Then I dropped again. Yesterday i jumped back up to 1336. I'm looking for a reason why this is happening. Is it just that some days are better than others? Or is it my chess playing?

Now all you need to do is work out in advance which days will be extraordinary and which will suck, then you can use that information to decide whether to get out of bed or not.

Jamie I play 15/10 games. I usually try to take my time but usually the game ends after 20 minutes. Do you recommend a slower game, or just use all the time of my 15/10 games?

Play at the rate you feel minimizes anxiety and errors.  15/10 is good, but use your time wisely.
